Comparing Natural and Commercial Cleaners

In comparison to commercial cleaners, natural cleaning solutions are often used to lessen the amount of hazardous chemicals that are dispersed within a household. It is in this respect that by using natural cleaning solutions we can ensure a safe living environment for our family. Natural cleaning often requires that you create your own solutions from natural cleaning items such as vinegar, and baking soda. There are however, entire lines of Green cleaning products that have been made and are available and can be purchased in home appliance stores. The idea of natural cleaning may not be preferable for everyone, but its always good to have a basic knowledge of the different types of cleaning methods in order to decide which cleaning method will be best for you.
Natural cleaning as stated, often requires the creation of your own cleaning products. The process can involve creating a product, allowing the product to soak, and then wiping the surface clean. There isnt much difficulty in doing this, but its the time required to make your cleaners that can turn people away from the idea. Some cleaners however, such as a Natural Glass cleaner, can be made simply by mixing a one part vinegar, and a one part water solution to a spray bottle. The reason why many people prefer to use commercial cleaners is because there isnt a lapse in time to get them prepared; simply point and spray your solution. What most people dont know and arent aware of however are the hazardous chemicals they are spraying around their homes unknowingly when using commercial cleaners.
Commercial cleaners are loaded with tons of chemicals that could have serious side-effects to our health if used frequently. Many people report experiencing serious health problems when using commercial cleaners. Health problems such as difficulty breathing, headaches, and allergic reactions are a few common side-effects for some. Scientists are continually finding that many of the commercial cleaners we use to clean our homes with are loaded with chemicals that are considered carcinogenic, or cancer causing. The seriousness of the situation should not be ignored for the safety and well-being of our family and ourselves. Aside from the threat commercial cleaners pose to our health, they also pose a threat to the environment at large; being linked and related to such things as air and water pollution.
The benefits to using natural cleaning solutions are obvious. They dont cause harm to our health nor do they pose a threat to our environment. Aside from this, natural Cleaning solutions such as vinegar, can often be bought in large quantities and stored and used months at a time. Commercial cleaners dont have this benefit and luxury. And aside from that they can often be expensive and last but a fraction of the time natural cleaning supplies would.
As great as natural cleaning supplies can be, I would like to make you aware of the fact that just because they are natural does not mean they are gentle in relation to our household items. For example, lemon can be used as a bleaching solution, but it can also cause unwanted fading to fabric if used improperly to remove stains. Hydrogen peroxide if used to treat stains in our carpet can cause unwanted lightening to the carpet fibers. Salt can rust metal and create damp patches if used to treat specific stains. So with this knowledge I would advise you to always use any natural cleaning solution with caution to ensure maximum benefit and to achieve desired results.
In the simplest of terms, natural cleaning products may be the answer that you need to clean your home safely. If anyone in your home experiences any strange side-effects after youve cleaned the house, the problem may lie with the cleaners you are using. Overall both methods of cleaning have their pros and cons. What you may need will be based on your own requirements and personal situation.
